BIOGRAPHY

I was one of those arty kids growing up and there was never a question in my mind that I would become an artist when I grew up, although not really understanding what that really involved.
I majored in art at the University of Texas and University of Houston. My curriculum included architectural and technical drawing and at the age of 23 I qualified for a position as technical illustrator at NASA. I spent the next 20 years drawing every imaginable part of the Space Shuttle, illustrating flight manuals and payloads and even taking part in designing mission patches .
After leaving NASA, I took advanced painting classes at The Art League of Houston School of Art and fell in love with oil painting. From then on I have been on a journey of self-discovery with every blank canvas.
My most current work is a series of underwater figures featuring fractured light. I have always loved the ocean, with its infinite allure of every shade of blue, and the soothing sensation of being immersed in beautiful clear water. My wish is to convey another realm of serene weightlessness, with the complex patterns created by the fractured light, along with the abstract distortion of shape and color, and most of all to bring a sense of calm to the viewer.
